This page tells you the terms and conditions (“Terms”) on which we supply our online courses, including Sew Ready in 4 Weeks (“Course”), listed on our website www.missjsews.com (“our site”) to you.

Please read these Terms carefully before ordering any Course from our site.

You should save a copy of these Terms for your future reference.

By placing an order on our site, you agree to these Terms and agree that these Terms take precedence over any other terms and conditions, including your own terms of business, any course of dealing, or any industry practice.

1. Information About Us

www.missjsews.com is a site operated by J.Hensell trading as Miss J Sews (“we” or “us”).

Our address is 61 Bridge Street, HR5 3DJ, Kington

Our email address is hello@missjsews.com

2. About the Course

The Course is a paid online beginner sewing education course delivered live online using Zoom or similar video conferencing software.

The Course is intended for individual consumers who are beginners or returning beginners in sewing and who want to become more comfortable using a domestic sewing machine.

The Course is designed to help you:

  • become more comfortable setting up and using a domestic sewing machine;
  • practise basic sewing machine skills;
  • understand threading, bobbin use, first stitches, and simple beginner checks;
  • gain hands-on sewing practice;
  • build confidence gradually;
  • complete a simple beginner sewing project.

The current beginner project is a simple bag. It is intended to be beginner-friendly and avoids zips, garment fitting, stretch fabric, advanced techniques, and complicated printed pattern pieces. It may use a simple cutting guide rather than a traditional graded sewing pattern.

The Course does not guarantee a perfect finished project, perfect sewing, or a specific result.

The Course is educational only. It is not:

  • sewing machine repair;
  • sewing machine servicing;
  • electrical advice;
  • professional technical diagnosis;
  • advanced sewing tuition;
  • garment fitting;
  • pattern cutting;
  • industrial sewing machine instruction;
  • overlocker or serger instruction;
  • a guarantee that your sewing machine will work correctly;
  • a guarantee that any sewing machine issue will be solved;
  • a guarantee that your finished project will be perfect.

If your sewing machine appears unsafe, damaged, faulty, smoking, smelling of burning, electrically unsafe, missing essential parts, or unsuitable for beginner online support, you should stop using it and seek help from the manufacturer or a qualified sewing machine technician.

3. Service Availability

You will need:

  • a device capable of accessing live online sessions;
  • a reliable internet connection;
  • access to email;
  • the ability to open links to video conferencing software and Course materials;
  • any required software or app needed to attend the Course;
  • a working domestic sewing machine;
  • suitable sewing tools, thread, bobbins, needles, fabric, and materials as stated on the sales page, confirmation email, or pre-course information.

We do not guarantee that the Course will be compatible with every device, browser, email provider, internet connection, sewing machine, camera setup, microphone setup, or software setup.

We are not responsible for your inability to access or participate in the Course due to issues with your device, internet connection, email provider, video conferencing software, sewing machine, materials, tools, or other technology outside our control.

(c) you are purchasing the Course as an individual consumer for your own personal educational use, unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing;

5. How the Contract Is Formed Between You and Us

5.1

After placing an order, you will receive an email from us acknowledging that we have received your order. Please note that this does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.

Your order is an offer to us to buy the Course.

All orders are subject to acceptance by us. We will confirm acceptance by sending you an email that confirms that the Course is available for access, provides joining details, or gives other Course access information (“Access Confirmation”).

The contract between us (“Contract”) will only be formed when we send you the Access Confirmation.

5.2

The Contract will relate only to the Course whose access we have confirmed in the Access Confirmation.

We will not be obliged to supply any other course, service, product, or material that may have been part of your order until access to that item has been confirmed in a separate Access Confirmation.

6. Consumer Cancellation Rights

If you are purchasing the Course as a consumer, namely you are buying the Course as an individual acting for purposes which are wholly or mainly outside of your trade, business, craft, or profession, the following shall apply.

6.1 Fourteen-Day Cancellation Right

You have the right to cancel this agreement within 14 days of the date of this agreement by emailing us at hello@missjsews.com or by using the form of cancellation annexed to this agreement at Annex 1.

To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.

If you cancel this agreement, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you in relation to the agreement within 14 days after the date on which we were informed about your decision to cancel this Contract, subject to clauses 6.2 and 6.3 below.

6.2 Digital Content and Course Materials

Notwithstanding clause 6.1 above, you agree that we may begin the supply of digital content not on a tangible medium before the end of the cancellation period set out in clause 6.1.

Digital content may include Course materials, worksheets, guides, checklists, downloads, replay links, videos, recordings, slides, reference sheets, supply lists, cutting guides, emails, or other digital resources.

You acknowledge that once access to such digital content begins, you lose your cancellation rights in relation to that digital content, subject to your statutory rights.

6.3 Live Sessions and Immediate Performance

In relation to the provision of any live online teaching, group sessions, feedback, or other services under this Contract:

(a) if the Course begins during the 14-day cancellation period, you hereby request immediate performance of the Contract and acknowledge that you will lose your right of withdrawal from the Contract once the service contract has been fully performed. You confirm that you understand the implications of this request; and

(b) if you cancel the Contract before the services have been fully performed, you agree that you will pay for the supply of the service for the period for which it has been supplied. The amount payable will be in proportion to what has been supplied, in comparison with the full coverage of the Contract.

6.4 Missed Sessions

Subject to your statutory rights and the cancellation provisions in this Agreement, if you miss a live session, arrive late, are unable to attend, or do not watch a replay within the replay access period, you may not be entitled to a refund.

If you miss a session due to circumstances beyond your control, you may contact us to discuss whether any replay, transfer, catch-up resource, or other remedy is available. Any remedy will be offered at our discretion unless required by law.

6.5 Transfers

Transfers to a future cohort may be offered at our discretion.

To request a transfer, you must contact us at hello@missjsews.com as soon as reasonably possible and explain your request.

We may set deadlines, conditions, availability limits, or transfer fees for transfers. Any applicable fee or condition will be confirmed before the transfer is agreed.

Where a transfer is offered, it is not guaranteed unless confirmed by us in writing.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.

7. Availability and Access

7.1

The Course is delivered live online on the dates and times stated on the sales page, product page, checkout page, confirmation email, or Access Confirmation.

Course dates, times, duration, format, access details, and replay access may vary by cohort and will be confirmed before or shortly after purchase.

7.2

Your order may be fulfilled automatically on your receipt of the Access Confirmation. If our automated systems do not work immediately, please contact hello@missjsews.com to advise us that the Course has not been made available for access.

As our systems may be automated or rely on third-party software, we shall not be liable for any delay in access to any Course, provided that we take reasonable steps to resolve the issue.

7.3

The Course may include access to:

  • live online group sessions;
  • email reminders;
  • Zoom or video call links;
  • replay links, if offered;
  • digital handouts;

  • a simple cutting guide;
  • a supply list;
  • reference sheets;

7.4 Replay Access

Replay access may be offered for a limited period. The replay access period will be stated on the sales page, product page, confirmation email, or Access Confirmation.

Unless otherwise stated, replay access is for streaming only and may not be downloaded.

Replay access is personal to you and must not be shared, copied, downloaded, uploaded, distributed, sold, taught from, or made available to anyone else unless we expressly give permission in writing.

We will take reasonable steps to provide replay access where offered, but we cannot guarantee that every live session will be recorded successfully due to technical issues, platform issues, recording failure, or events outside our control.

If a replay is expected but becomes unavailable, we may provide an alternative resource, summary, replacement session, transfer, or other reasonable remedy at our discretion.

We shall not be liable for any losses, costs, or expenses you incur because a replay is unavailable due to technical issues, platform issues, recording failure, or events outside our reasonable control, except where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

7.5 Functional Requirements

Any digital materials included as part of the Course may require access to email, an internet-connected device, a web browser, video conferencing software, PDF viewing software, and the ability to open links and digital files.

You are responsible for ensuring that your device and software are suitable for accessing the Course and any digital materials.

7.6 Technical Protection Measures

Course access, replay links, downloads, or digital materials may be protected by access links, passwords, expiry dates, restricted access pages, email links, or other technical protection measures.

You must not attempt to bypass, remove, share, disable, or interfere with any technical protection measure.

8. Price and Payment

8.1

The price of the Course will be as quoted on our site from time to time, except in cases of obvious error.

8.2

Prices are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless expressly stated otherwise.

8.3

The Course may be offered at an introductory, founder, promotional, or discounted price for selected cohorts. Future prices may vary by cohort, offer, platform, discount, or promotion.

8.4

Prices are liable to change at any time, but changes will not affect orders in respect of which we have already sent you an Access Confirmation.

8.5

Payment for the Course must be made by such method of payment as is specified on our website, Shopify checkout, Stan Store checkout, or any other approved checkout platform we use.

Access to the Course will not be granted until payment has been received in full, unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.

8.6

You are responsible for all costs and expenses incurred by you in connection with your participation in the Course, including sewing machine costs, tools, materials, fabric, thread, needles, bobbins, internet access, software, device costs, and any other supplies. These costs are not included in the Course fee unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.

9. Refunds

9.1

Subject to your statutory rights and the cancellation provisions in these Terms, refunds are not provided unless expressly stated in these Terms or agreed by us in writing.

9.2

Because the Course may include live online teaching, replay access, downloadable materials, digital resources, and limited-time cohort access, refunds are only available in limited circumstances.

9.3

If a refund is agreed or required, we will usually refund any money received from you using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase unless otherwise agreed or required. Refunds will usually be processed within 14 days of the refund being agreed or required.

9.4

If you miss a live session, arrive late, are unable to attend, fail to check your email, fail to access the replay within the replay period, or do not complete the Course, this does not automatically entitle you to a refund.

9.5

If we cancel the whole Course and do not provide a replacement, transfer, replay, alternative resource, or other reasonable remedy, we will refund the Course fee you paid.

10. Title and Intellectual Property

10.1

You will only be entitled to use the Course when we receive full payment of all sums due in respect of the Course.

10.2

As between us and you, all Intellectual Property Rights and all other rights in the Course, Course materials, replays, downloads, worksheets, guides, cutting guides, videos, slides, emails, teaching materials, examples, and resources shall be owned by us or our licensors.

10.7

Any breach of this clause may result in termination of access, refusal of future services, and/or legal action where appropriate.

11. Course Materials, Educational Guidance and No Individual Advice

11.1

The materials we deliver as part of the Course do not constitute repair advice, servicing advice, electrical advice, professional advice, or technical diagnosis.

We are providing beginner sewing education, training, and guidance only.

We are not able to advise you on every individual circumstance, sewing machine model, equipment issue, or project result and shall not be liable for any reliance placed by you on the materials within the Course.

You are encouraged to consult your sewing machine manual, manufacturer, or a qualified sewing machine technician for specific sewing machine issues.

11.3

We will endeavour to ensure that all information that we provide within the Course is accurate and up to date, but we shall not be liable for claims arising from such information being inaccurate, not up to date, or otherwise unsuitable for your individual circumstances.

The nature of sewing can lead to variations based on individual circumstances, including sewing machine model, fabric, thread, needle, tools, workspace, and practice. You should use your own judgement and discretion when applying Course guidance.

11.4

We do not guarantee that:

  • your sewing machine will work correctly;
  • your sewing machine issue will be resolved;

The Course is a group education course and does not include unlimited personal support.

12.2

General questions may be answered during live sessions or by email at our discretion.

General questions may include questions about the Course content, basic sewing machine setup covered in the Course, the beginner project, or clarification of the steps demonstrated.

Where email support is offered, we aim to respond within a reasonable period, but response times are not guaranteed.

12.3

We do not guarantee:

  • individual diagnosis of every participant’s sewing machine;
  • individual troubleshooting for every sewing machine model;

13.2

If you act in any way which in our opinion is likely to cause harm, nuisance, disruption, or discomfort to any person on the Course, you may be required to leave the Course or live session, and we shall not be liable to provide you with a refund, replay access, replacement access, or any other remedy.

We may issue a warning before removal from the Course, depending on the severity of the behaviour.

13.3

Inappropriate behaviour includes, but is not limited to:

If you are unsure about the safe operation of your sewing machine or equipment, we recommend seeking professional help from the manufacturer or a qualified sewing machine technician.

14.2

You should ensure that your workspace is safe, stable, well-lit, and free from avoidable hazards before using your sewing machine.

14.3

You should follow your sewing machine manual and the manufacturer’s safety instructions.

We recommend having your sewing machine manual available during the Course for reference where possible.

14.4

You should switch off and unplug your sewing machine before changing needles, cleaning, removing parts, or carrying out maintenance unless your manual clearly instructs otherwise.
