WORKSHOP TERMS AND CONDITIONS Don’t Give Up on Your Sewing Machine
WORKSHOP TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Don’t Give Up on Your Sewing Machine
The following terms and conditions apply to all persons or other entities (“you”) that are attending any free online workshop (“Workshop”) organised by Miss J Sews(“we” or “us”).
Please ensure you have read and understand the following.
1. Acceptance of terms and conditions
By completing the registration form for a particular Workshop, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions set out below (“Terms”) and they will be incorporated into the contract between us (“Contract”).
The Contract is formed when we send you a booking confirmation, registration confirmation, joining link, or other written confirmation of your place at the Workshop.
You may be asked to confirm your acceptance of these Terms during registration, for example by ticking a box or submitting the registration form. If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not register for or attend the Workshop.
The Workshop is intended for individual consumers who are beginners or returning beginners in sewing.
2. About the Workshop
The Workshop is a free online educational event delivered using Zoom or similar video conferencing software.
The Workshop is designed to provide general beginner sewing education, including guidance on common beginner sewing machine issues and what to check first when a domestic sewing machine starts acting up.
The Workshop may cover topics such as:
- basic threading awareness
- bobbin checks
- needle and thread checks
- what to check after a jam
- why changing random settings can make things more confusing
- why the tension dial should not usually be the first thing beginners change
- basic beginner-safe troubleshooting concepts
- simple next steps for practising after the Workshop
The Workshop is educational only. It is not:
- a sewing machine repair service
- a sewing machine servicing appointment
- electrical advice
- professional technical diagnosis
- advanced sewing tuition
- garment fitting support
- pattern cutting support
- industrial sewing machine instruction
- overlocker or serger instruction
Nothing in the Workshop guarantees that your sewing machine will be fixed, safe to use, or made to work correctly.
You should not rely solely on the Workshop to resolve specific sewing machine issues. If your sewing machine has persistent problems, appears unsafe, or may need repair or servicing, you should seek help from the manufacturer or a qualified sewing machine technician.
3. Payment
There is no Registration Fee for attending the Workshop unless expressly stated otherwise on the registration page.
If the Workshop is offered free of charge, no payment is required to attend.
We reserve the right to run free events, paid events, price promotions, discounts, or other offers as we think fit.
4. Cancellation
As this Workshop is provided free of charge, no refund will be payable if you cancel, do not attend, are late, or are unable to access the Workshop.
If you can no longer attend, we encourage you to let us know by emailing hello@missjsews,com, but no refund or payment will be due because the Workshop is free of charge.
There may be circumstances in which we need to cancel the Workshop. In such circumstances, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you using the contact details you provided at registration.
Where possible, we may offer a replacement Workshop date, replay, alternative resource, or other reasonable alternative at our discretion.
5. Postponement or change to delivery
There may be circumstances in which we need to postpone the Workshop or change the online delivery method, platform, time, access link, or other details.
If we do, we shall advise you of this as soon as we reasonably can using the email address you provided at registration.
We are not liable for any costs, losses, or expenses you incur because of any cancellation, postponement, change of delivery method, or technical issue connected with the Workshop.
6. Liability
Our sole liability in relation to any cancellation, postponement, technical failure, or change to delivery shall be limited to the price paid by you for such Workshop.
Where the Workshop is free, no refund or payment will be due.
We shall not be liable under any circumstances for any consequential losses.
Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability for which it is unlawful to exclude or limit liability.
7. Your obligations
You agree to behave respectfully during the Workshop, including in any live chat, comments, questions, or related communication.
If you act in any way which in our opinion is likely to cause harm, nuisance, disruption, or discomfort to any person at the Workshop, you may be required to leave the Workshop and we shall not be liable to provide you with replay access, replacement access, or any other remedy.
Inappropriate behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
- abusive language
- harassment
- discriminatory comments
- threats
- repeated disruption
- sharing other participants’ personal information
- recording without permission
- sharing Workshop access details
- using the Workshop to promote unrelated products or services
You must not share your Workshop login details, joining link, replay link, or access details with anyone else.
You are responsible for ensuring that your own sewing machine, tools, materials, equipment, workspace, device, internet connection, and software access are suitable and safe for your participation in the Workshop.
You must comply with all reasonable requests from us regarding health, safety, conduct, and use of the Workshop.
8. Health and safety
You are responsible for the safe use of your own sewing machine, tools, needles, scissors, irons, electrical equipment, materials, and workspace.
You should ensure that your workspace is safe, stable, well-lit, and free from avoidable hazards before using your sewing machine.
You should follow your sewing machine manual and the manufacturer’s safety instructions.
We recommend having your sewing machine manual available during the Workshop for reference where possible.
You should switch off and unplug your sewing machine before changing needles, cleaning, removing parts, or carrying out maintenance unless your manual clearly instructs otherwise.
You should stop using your sewing machine and seek help from the manufacturer or a qualified sewing machine technician if you notice:
- smoke
- burning smells
- electrical faults
- damaged wiring
- broken parts
- severe or unusual noises
- unsafe operation
- anything that makes the sewing machine appear unsafe
If you choose to use your sewing machine during or after the Workshop, you do so at your own risk.
If your sewing machine appears unsafe, damaged, faulty, or unsuitable for beginner online support, we reserve the right to advise you to stop using it and seek help from the manufacturer or a qualified sewing machine technician.
We reserve the right not to provide guidance where we believe it would be unsafe or inappropriate to do so.
9. Materials at the Workshop
Unless otherwise stated, the copyright for any materials used at the Workshop, including course notes, slides, handouts, checklists, downloads, videos, replays, articles, examples, and resources, belongs to us or our licensors and may not be reproduced in any medium without our prior written consent.
You may use such materials for your own individual personal educational purposes only.
You must not use them for commercial purposes or share, disclose, reproduce, publish, upload, sell, distribute, teach from, or otherwise deal with such materials without our prior written consent.
You must not use Workshop materials to create your own products, downloads, courses, guides, videos, workshops, teaching materials, or other resources.
We reserve the right to change the published programme, content, materials, examples, delivery method, or structure of the Workshop as we think fit.
10. Photography, filming and recording
You may not film, record, screenshot, copy, or otherwise capture the Workshop, any replay, or any Workshop materials without our prior written consent.
You must not share any recording, screenshot, replay, access link, or Workshop material without our prior written consent.
We may wish to photograph, record, or film the Workshop for replay, teaching, internal review, promotional, or business purposes.
If the Workshop is recorded and participants are visible or identifiable, we will take reasonable steps to inform participants.
We will not publish your name, image, question, testimonial, project photo, or other identifying information for promotional purposes without your permission.
11. Data protection
We will communicate with you using the contact details provided on the registration form for the purposes of the Workshop.
We may use your contact details to send Workshop-related emails, including:
- registration confirmation
- joining links
- reminder emails
- replay links, if offered
- follow-up emails
- Workshop resources or downloads
- related information about beginner sewing support
We will use and process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Notice that you can view at [INSERT PRIVACY POLICY URL].
You may have rights under data protection law, including the right to request access to your personal data, request correction of inaccurate personal data, and exercise any other rights set out in our Privacy Notice.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time, but doing so may mean you do not receive Workshop reminders, replay links, resources, or follow-up information.
We will not sell your personal information.
12. Access links
We shall not send you physical tickets for the Workshop.
We will send Workshop access information, such as the joining link, to the email address you provided at registration.
You are responsible for providing a valid and accurate email address at registration so that we can send you access information and Workshop communications.
You are responsible for checking your emails, spam folder, promotions folder, and any other relevant inbox folders before the Workshop.
Workshop access links are personal to you and must not be shared with anyone else.
We are not responsible if you are unable to attend because you did not check your emails, used an incorrect email address, experienced email delivery issues outside our control, or had technical problems with your device, internet connection, or software.
13. Replay access
Replay access may be offered at our discretion.
If a replay is provided, we will tell you how long it is available for and how to access it.
Replay access is personal to you and must not be shared, copied, downloaded, uploaded, distributed, sold, or made available to anyone else unless we expressly give permission in writing.
We will take reasonable steps to provide replay access where offered, but we cannot guarantee that every live Workshop will be recorded successfully due to technical issues, platform issues, or events outside our control.
If a replay is expected but becomes unavailable, we will take reasonable steps to inform registered participants as soon as reasonably possible.
14. Technical access issues
You are responsible for ensuring that you have:
- a suitable device
- a reliable internet connection
- access to email
- the ability to open the Workshop joining link
- any software or app needed to attend the Workshop
We recommend testing your device, internet connection, email access, and any required software or app before the Workshop begins.
We are not responsible for your inability to attend or participate due to internet issues, device issues, email delivery issues outside our control, software issues, or failure to check your emails or joining links.
If we experience technical issues that prevent us from delivering the Workshop, we may reschedule, cancel, provide a replay if available, provide an alternative resource, or offer another reasonable alternative at our discretion.
15. Disability, access needs and adjustments
If you have a disability, medical condition, or access need that requires us to consider reasonable adjustments for your participation in the Workshop, please email us at [INSERT EMAIL ADDRESS] as early as possible and, where possible, before the Workshop takes place.
We will consider reasonable requests, but we cannot guarantee that all adjustments will be possible for every online Workshop, platform, or format.
16. Limitations of liability
Whilst every reasonable precaution is taken by us to provide the Workshop safely and professionally, we shall not in any way be liable for any loss or damage suffered by you whatsoever in relation to the Workshop, save that nothing in these Terms shall be deemed to limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Any limitation of liability in these Terms applies only to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability for which it is unlawful to exclude or limit liability.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense arising from your use of your own sewing machine, tools, materials, workspace, device, internet connection, or equipment.
You should not rely solely on the Workshop to resolve specific sewing machine issues. If your sewing machine has persistent problems, appears unsafe, or may need repair or servicing, you should seek help from the manufacturer or a qualified sewing machine technician.
We do not guarantee that:
- your sewing machine will work correctly
- your sewing machine issue will be resolved
- your stitches will be perfect
- the Workshop will be suitable for every sewing machine, fabric, tool, or individual circumstance
- you will achieve a particular result
Our total liability for any matter arising out of the Contract shall in all circumstances be limited to the price paid by you for the Workshop.
Where the Workshop is free, our liability shall be limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We shall not in any circumstances be liable to you for any consequential loss whatsoever.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales.
You hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales in relation to any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Workshop.
